About Rosenthal IP Law

It all starts with my dad.

Soon after law school, he and his roommate started their law firm with his mom as his legal secretary. Growing up, I appreciated the personal connection he had with clients, helping them start and grow their businesses. When our family ate at a restaurant, we would speak with and get to know, the owner, Dad’s client. I loved that, as a business owner, he carved out plenty of time for us.

In school, I focused on math and engineering, and then I worked for Apple for 5 ½ years. It was a lot of fun and a great place to work, but there was something missing. I felt that if someone tripped over a power cord, everything would be gone – poof! I realized I missed out on connecting with customers. I explored other careers until I finally followed in my Dad’s footsteps, with the goal to someday open my own firm.

My engineering background brought me to patent law. Being able to use my scientific mind and learn about creative inventions while applying the law was incredibly enjoyable. I spent time in “Big Law” and then joined an IP boutique, where I was able to explore more areas of intellectual property law and work closer with clients. This broader knowledge allowed me to offer more services with a holistic perspective and thus gave me the tools to open my own firm.

With this new “someday” goal in mind, I was offered an opportunity to use office space in town, and I decided to make it the right time.

No commute + flexibility = more time with my family as my dad had with his. And here I am.
